| At approximately 2:20 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, the Jamesport Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with a reported occupant trapped near RG|NY at 6025 Sound Avenue in Jamesport, NY.
The incident involved a single-occupant vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic and struck several trees before coming to rest against another tree. Despite the severity of the crash, the occupant sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Under the command of Chief of Department Harold “Duffy” Griffiths III, the Jamesport Fire Department deployed Heavy Rescue unit 6-1-4. The crew extricated the trapped occupant from the vehicle within 10 minutes.
After the extrication, the vehicle was inspected for leaks or fire hazards and secured to prevent further incidents. The sole occupant was evaluated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
The Jamesport Fire Department reminds the public about the importance of seatbelt use and the risks of distracted driving. This incident serves as a reminder to prioritize safety on the roads.
Thanks to the quick response and efficient actions of Jamesport Fire Department personnel, further harm was prevented. All crews cleared the scene within approximately 25 minutes.
