On August 6, 2023, at approximately 5:20 AM, the Jamesport Fire Department, Islip Fire Department, and Farmingville Fire Department, while standing by for the Brentwood Fire Department, responded to a working commercial structure fire at a gas station and vehicle service center located at 1573 Brentwood Road in Brentwood, NY.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and is yet to be determined. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or casualties resulting from the incident.
The fire departments showcased their swift response capabilities with an impressive arrival time of approximately 7 minutes. Fire companies promptly forced entry into the commercial structure and deployed multiple hose lines to extinguish all bodies of fire. Additionally, firefighters conducted thorough search and overhaul operations to ensure no victims were within and the complete extinguishment of the fire.
Recognizing the scale of the incident, mutual aid was requested and received from the Bay Shore and Central Islip Fire Departments, further bolstering the response efforts.
Firefighters encountered challenges as they faced a secured commercial building, requiring the use of various power and hand tools to gain entry. Nevertheless, their diligent efforts and expertise allowed for a successful and rapid extinguishment of the fire within the structure.
No evacuations or road closures were necessary during the incident, and the estimated property damage is currently unknown. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
