Jamesport Fire Department Rescue Squad Apparatus

Rescue 6-1-4

The Heavy Rescue Truck, identified as 6-1-4 within the Jamesport Fire Department, is a notable asset operated and diligently maintained by the Jamesport Fire Department Rescue Squad. Manufactured by KME in 2004, this vehicle stands out due to its specialized design tailored for technical rescues and various emergency operations, rather than traditional fire suppression activities involving water-filled hoses and tanks.

Equipped with multiple sets of extrication tools, specifically sourced from Holmatro and TNT, this truck plays a critical role in freeing individuals trapped in vehicles during severe motor vehicle accidents. To ensure stability during operations, the vehicle is furnished with vehicle chocks, and a combi-tool is readily available on the front bumper for extrication purposes. Moreover, a comprehensive tool box, refrigerator, tent with chairs for firefighter rehabilitation, two ventilation fans, additional speedy dry for managing fluid and gas spills, rescue jacks, water/ice rescue equipment, portable lights, generators, and airbags for heavy lifting are all integral components of this rescue truck.

The truck boasts a range of hand tools, an EMS compartment replete with various equipment including an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and other Basic Life Support (BLS) supplies to facilitate patient care at the scene. Further enhancing its capabilities, a rescue winch is situated at the front of the vehicle. Noteworthy features of this truck include a sizable light tower for scene illumination, a selection of detection meters, and spare Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and Oxygen Bottles. Notably, each seat, excluding the driver's seat, is equipped with an SCBA Pack seat.

This vehicle responds promptly to emergency calls received by the Jamesport Fire Department, fulfilling its duty even in instances where the First Responder is occupied with other incidents. Rescue 6-1-7

Introducing 6-1-7, recognized by the Jamesport Fire Department as the High Water Rescue/Brush Truck. Since 2015, this 1995 truck has faithfully served the Jamesport Fire Department & Rescue Squad. This versatile vehicle is classified as a specialty truck, designed to fulfill multiple purposes and provide invaluable assistance to the department. Primarily utilized during flooding, tropical storms, blizzards, and various natural disasters, this truck's remarkable height enables it to surmount obstacles and maneuver through debris that nature may present. Its capabilities extend beyond water rescues, as it carries a substantial 300-gallon water capacity for fire extinguishing operations, accompanied by a small Honda Pump.

Equipped with a removeable canopy tarp, the truck offers shelter to rescued victims upon completion of rescue missions. When brush fire season arrives, the tarp is removed, allowing the truck to combat fires in wooded areas throughout Jamesport, including county and state parks, unattended beach fires, and shoreline search operations for water rescues. In preparation for such situations, the truck is outfitted with essential hand tools for wildfire operations, such as Indian water cans, a chainsaw, two different-sized hoses positioned on either side of the vehicle, and special firefighter rakes to establish firelines during brush fire operations. Additionally, a 12,000-pound winch is situated at the front of the truck, providing enhanced functionality.
